Fisher AV: A Journey from WWII Pharmacy to AV Excellence, the history of Fisher AV.
In the heart of Birkenhead,Liverpool during the tumultuous times of World War II, a small family-run pharmacy, Montague Fisher MPS, set its first roots. Little did anyone know that this humble beginning would eventually evolve into Fisher Audio Visual, a dynamic and thriving audio-visual business based in Manchester and Liverpool, known for its state-of-the-art AV equipment and creative technical support.
The Past:
Montague Fisher took his first steps towards the future in the late 1940s, shifting the business’s focus from pharmaceuticals to photography. This was the birth of Fisher Audio Visual’s innovative spirit, as it was in this very shop that the UK’s first-ever automatic vending machine for black and white film was installed.
By 1955, Montague Fisher had become synonymous with the photographic industry, expanding to Liverpool. And in 1964, the company made its mark in Chester. The first audio-visual division emerged in 1963, driven by the growing demand from the educational and commercial sectors for training and sales projection equipment. Names like Bell & Howell and Rank Aldis ruled the day, preceding the Sony and Panasonic era.
The Present:
Fast forward to today, Fisher Audio Visual stands as a dynamic and experienced audio-visual hire business. Our name is synonymous with high-quality AV equipment and comprehensive technical support for presentations and events across the United Kingdom. We are dedicated to providing efficient and friendly customer service, backed by years of industry experience.

Note from the Managing Director: Bryan Fisher
The journey from a wartime pharmacy to the forefront of the audio-visual industry has been nothing short of incredible. As the Managing Director, I’m incredibly proud of our heritage, our evolution, and our unwavering commitment to excellence.
My personal journey within this company began in 1967 when I first joined my father’s photography business. I remember the quaint photographic store where I learned the art of professional photography during my holidays, specializing in weddings and dinner events. In 1973, my father decided to return to pharmacy, leaving me in charge of the audio-visual company.
Over the years, I immersed myself in the intricacies of this burgeoning industry. After my father’s sudden passing in 1982, I took the helm, leading the company through a period of rapid growth while ensuring we remained at the forefront of AV technology developments.
Our journey from a small pharmacy in Birkenhead to a prominent AV company has been a remarkable one. I look forward to our continued growth and innovations in the years to come, and continuinally making history to look back on proudly. I owe a big thank you to the Fisher AV team, their talent and dedication combined with our clients trust and ongoing support make us successful.
